Students Advancement Fund Endowments Safes

Gujrat: Students hailing from the poor sections of society are in a quandary because of meteoric rise in inflation and skyrocketing prices. Charity must become open armed to facilitate these large sections of population. To cater to this humanitarian need ‘Promotion of Education in Pakistan’ PEP; a financial organization has chalked out a comprehensive program. If a university pools up resources of 1 million rupees to develop ‘Student Advancement Fund Endowments’ (SAFEs) with the goal of funding an ongoing commitment to make higher education accessible to needy students, PEF will promptly issue a free matching grant of 1 million rupees.

This amount shall be invested in some lucrative business enterprise or fix-deposited in some bank. Out of this profit succor can be provided to the needy. PEP has already successfully launched such projects at the University of Punjab, G.C University Lahore, UET Lahore and G.C University Faisalabad, Beacon House National University Lahore (BNU).
These views were expressed by Dr Khalid Iqbal who alongwith his spouse Dr. Inge Grundke Iqbal founders of PEP visited University of Gujrat . Dr. Iqbal was addressing a meeting of the faculty and administration being presided over by Prof Dr. Mohammad Nizamuddin Vice Chancellor of the UOG.

This meeting was organized specifically to look for and tap further resources to meet the dire needs of the needy students.Dr.Nizamuddin in his address pointed out the need to make education more productive and accessible to the bright but resource-stricken students.
He had invited the couple with a determination to broaden the scope of providing succor to the deserving. He asserted that UOG was catering to the academic needs of more than 18,000 students. UOG believes in an open-arm policy to induct talented though poor students.  The initiation of this endowment project to be managed by the faculty and the students will further ease up many financially hard-pressed learners. He also stressed the need to develop such skills among students whereby they can launch their own small businesses.
